The Cleveland Cavaliers and Kevin Love are at a crossroads of sorts. Their time together has been rocky but a championship was supposed to solve that. Maybe not. Last season there were reports of issues in the clubhouse between him and LeBron James. But they seemed to be on solid ground as the Cavs marched towards their first NBA title. So why is Love’s name still in NBA Trade Rumors?

To be honest, he just doesn’t fit with the current team. To watch Love play with the Cavs over the last two seasons was like watching a child open a Christmas gift and not see what he wanted. Love was an All-Star player with the Minnesota Timberwolves but with Cleveland, he’s more ” remember when Love use to”, he’s now the answer to a trivia question.

The only way he can get back to being him is to leave and I think both parties realize that. It’s impossible to be in a doomed relationship and both parties not know it. Eventually, someone will have to put their cards on the table and be upfront.

Love is a max player but Cleveland doesn’t need him as much as he needs them. Well, not anymore at least. The Cavs got out of Love what they wanted. They needed help to help LeBron get a ring and Love has done that. As far as the totem pole on the team goes, he will always be No.3 after James and Irving.

Love has not adapted to the Chris Bosh role in the Big 3. He has averaged 13 shots, 32 minutes, 16 points and 10 rebounds per game since arriving. His numbers are Minnesota were 19 shots, 36 minutes, 26 points and 13 rebounds. It may not seem like a huge difference but heading to the arena KNOWING you are the man is a far cry from suiting up for game day HOPING you will be the man.

If the Cavs were to move Love there have been so may rumors that they will not have a hard time finding a suitor. The newest reports will have him going to OKC in a three-team trade that will land the Cavs, Paul Millsap of the Hawks.

If they were to trade him maybe that will kick Love back into gear and we will get to see the player that average 20 points and 15 rebounds. I sorta miss that guy.
