Becoming a blogger is simple: publish content of interest to others, grow the subscriber count, expand your audience to millions of users, and promote your brand. It is easiest to boost their blogs for those who already have media power and a certain status in society. Such people are able to shape the modern agenda and promote particular ideas in society.

In his new piece, well-known political scientist Vladislav Soloviev, who can also be called a blogger, discusses the success of the blogs of millionaires and other famous people and their potential influence on Internet users.

Why Would a Millionaire Need a Blog?

A couple of years ago, one of the most famous living businessmen, Ilon Musk, the head of SpaceX and Tesla, said that he wanted to leave entrepreneurship and take up blogging. He sees this activity as a new field for self-fulfillment.

It must be said that the billionaire took a rather original approach to bringing this plan to life. First of all, he bought a social network called Twitter, after which he renamed it to X and changed its logo – the well-known blue bird. The millionaire stated that he intended to reformat the network and create a multifunctional application that could be used to communicate, exchange multimedia, and manage financial transactions.

However, Vladislav Soloviev is not interested in the evolution of the social network; he is interested in the public stance of Ilon Musk and his ability to influence the opinions of millions of people through his ex-Twitter posts. As a matter of fact, Musk has been using the account for more than 10 years. He uses this platform not only to communicate with fans but also for polemics with media giants. At times, some tweets from the head of SpaceX even caused serious price spikes on the stock markets.

Most of Musk’s posts seem quite harmless, in particular his posts about space and the importance of space exploration for humanity. But when the billionaire began to interfere in political affairs, his followers began to react more strongly. Some repudiated their idol; others, on the contrary, glorified him. His influence on the minds and hearts of the population is evident. A blogger of this rank has every opportunity to change the world image, which the media paints in their publications. When necessary, Musk skillfully uses the blog for his own purposes. But he is the only billionaire blogger there is.

Political Scientist Vladislav Soloviev: Deripaska as a Blogger and Influencer

Oleg Deripaska, a former CEO and owner of major mining companies, also runs his own blog, except not on Twitter but on Telegram. Deripaska’s posts are more informative than Musk’s, but his audience is much more modest in number. Nevertheless, Vladislav Soloviev believes that Deripaska also influences the global agenda by publishing materials on economics and politics.

For example, his posts often refer to the dominance of China and the global south in world geopolitics. Deripaska is convinced that the era of a unipolar world is truly over, although the Western world is resisting this process with all its might. The billionaire advocates for the creation of an alternative BRICS currency and predicts the imminent collapse of the U.S. dollar as an international financial tool.

The Future of Blogging, According to Vladislav Soloviev

Vladislav Soloviev considers himself primarily a political scientist, although he runs a fairly successful Zen channel, started the EN+ blog in English on blogger.com, and regularly publishes the most important materials of his own authorship there. In one of his interviews, Soloviev said that he has no financial income from his channel. The only purpose for which he launched his resource was to bring his views on events in politics and economics to the maximum possible number of users.

Vladislav Soloviev has created the English-language blog, where he publishes materials in English with the same goal in mind. This is also a place where aspiring English journalists can publish their articles. This is a completely independent project that does not cooperate with any political party or public organization.

In a changing world, Soloviev believes that bloggers with a media presence can become a kind of mouthpiece for new ideas. With the help of their own resources, such individuals can form an alternative public opinion favorable to certain circles in power or business structures.

In such a situation, Soloviev urges his followers and social media users not to unconditionally trust their idols but to approach any publications, posts, and tweets from a critical standpoint. Even if it is a worthy and authoritative person, he or she is primarily acting in his or her own interests. To believe or not to believe bloggers – leaders of public opinion – is a personal matter for everyone. However, first and foremost, it is important to be guided by common sense and not to take anything on faith without evidence or logical analysis.
