The Portland Trail Blazers will take on the Utah Jazz tonight at 10pm in a battle of up and coming Western Conference teams in their first preseason game.
The Blazers were the surprise team of 2015 as the made the playoffs despite losing All-Star, LaMarcus Aldridge before the season started. The Blazers were led by Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum as they rode the dynamic backcourt duo to a 44-38 record, best for the 5th seed in the conference.
The Utah Jazz fizzled down the stretch and missed the playoffs by a game as they had to watch Kobe go out in style and help shatter their playoff dreams. The Jazz reloaded on talent this offseason by acquiring vets, Joe Johnson, George Hill and Boris Diaw. The Jazz was a healthy PG away from for 6th or 7th seed but now will have no more excuses as the team is finally whole.

Free agency was kind to the Blazers as they managed to re-sign their important players like Allen Crabbe, Meyers Leonard and Maurice Harkless. But it may have been the addition of two playersrs that may have sealed their fate as one of the top 3-4 in the West. With the addition of do-it-all wing player, Evan Turner and big man, Festus Ezeli the Blazers possibly have the deepest team in the NBA 1-12.
Tonight should provide plenty of offense with Lillard and McCollum going head up against Hill and Hood, But the key to the game will come down to who controls the paint. Will it be the Twin Towers of Derrick Favors and Rudy Gobert or the smooth versatility of Aminu and Mason Plumlee?
