Dr. Eyhab Abdulrazak Bader Eddin has become a prominent figure in different industries, particularly the education sector, because of his contributions as an applied linguist, translator, interpreter, writer, and poet. To gain and enhance his knowledge about diverse languages, Bader Eddin enrolled himself at Damascus University to acquire a bachelor’s degree in the field of English Literature and Language. Later he joined the University of Reading, United Kingdom, to obtain a master’s degree in the field of Applied Linguistics.
The time he spent at the University of Reading was very enriching and fulfilling for Bader Eddin as he learned more about the history of linguistics and various big names in the field, such as John Lyons, Prof. Yan Huang, Pauline Robinson, Frank Palmer, Peter Roach, Linda Shockey, and Michael Garman. He also got the opportunity to study under the supervision of popular figures in the industry, such as Jacqueline Laws, Prof. Jane Setter, Judith Baxter, Alan Tonkyn, and Pauline Robinson, among many others.
Bader Eddin also completed his Ph.D. in Translation under the supervision of Professor Said Shiyab by submitting a thesis on the topic “Semantic Problems in A. J. Arberry’s Translation of the Suspended Odes (Mu’allaqat).” His Ph.D. has been approved as an earned doctorate according to Canadian equivalency by World Education Services.
Bader Eddin, who currently serves at the Nizwa University as an assistant professor of Translation and Linguistics, has worked in various institutions throughout his career, which include the King Khalid University, Saudi Arabia, College of Basic Education (Shamiyah and Adyilia Branches), Kuwait University, Damascus University (Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Department), Kuwait Arab International University, and the Open Learning Centre.
Apart from the aforementioned institutions, Bader Eddin has worked as an interpreter in different institutions, including the courts, the public prosecution bureau, the Ministry of Justice, Kuwait, and the Damascus Chamber of Commerce. He is also a certified professional translator at the Arab Professional Translators Society and Arab Translators Network, Institute of Translation & Interpreting, and Chartered Institute of Linguists, to name a few.
Dr. Eyhab Bader Eddin is a member of multiple bodies, including the European Legal Interpreters and Translators Association (EULITA), the International Federation of Translators (Fédération Internationale des Traducteurs) (FIT)), the International Union of Languages and Translation, and a former member of Association of Professors of English and Translation at Arab Universities (APETAU).
