EL SEGUNDO, CA – Leave it to the Los Angeles Lakers to steal the spotlight from their longtime rivals, the Boston Celtics, hours before they are set to play for their tie-breaking 18th NBA banner, in looking at the top college basketball coach in UConn Huskies head coach Dan Hurley, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski

Hurley, 51, who has spent the last six seasons in Storrs, and 14 overall at Wagner, Rhode Island and UConn has compiled a 292-163 overall record with a total of six NCAA Tournament appearances, two with Rhode island and the last four with UConn, resulting in back-to-back national titles in 2023 and 2024.

With an opportunity to do something that no college head coach has done since the late John Wooden in winning three national titles in a row, should Hurley stay in college, or make the monumental cross-country switch to the NBA’s most glamourous and storied franchise in the 17-time champion lakers,, and coach the league’s biggest superstar player of his time in LeBron James?

Ultimately, whatever influence James has—or may have in Hurley leaving UCoon remains to be seen, but this move appears to be setting up for a Lakers era post-LBJ, with or without James.

Time will tell.

Stay tuned.
