Vaping provides a safer way to enjoy herbal blends compared to smoking. That’s because this process doesn’t involve combustion. So, unlike smoking, a vapor is exposed to fewer toxins.

Vape devices also deliver fuller flavors than traditional tobacco cigarettes. Cleaner flavor translates to lower risks of burnt hit.

Besides, vapers can better determine the nicotine levels to consume by choosing e-juices containing specific nicotine potencies. This is actually the reason many experts recommend vaping as a cigarette-cessation aid.

However, vaping requires some learning curve to become adept at it. For instance, vape pens come with prebuilt batteries that you’ll need to recharge before you can enjoy your vaping session. And sometimes, these gadgets may not work even after charging them.

This article looks at all the possible reasons your vape pen won’t work after recharging it and how you can troubleshoot.

  1. The Battery Didn’t Charge At All

The first reason your vape pen not working after charge is that the battery did not charge in the first place. And the most likely cause is that you did not charge the device the right way.

Here’s a brief procedure on how to charge a vape pen battery;

  1. Have a proper charger.

Most vape pens charge via USB. However, the charging system may vary from one brand to another. The key thing here is to charge the battery using the right charger.

  1. Remove the vape cart from the device by following the manufacturer’s manual for assembling and disassembling the vaporizer.
  1. Attach the charger to a wall plug or a USB port.
  1. Connect the charger’s other end to your vape pen’s charging port.
  1. Monitor the indicator light.

In most devices, the indicator glows red for ‘charging’ and green for ‘fully charged.’

  1. The Charger Is Broken

It’s not enough to charge a vape pen battery using the correct charger. It’s equally important to ensure the charger is functioning normally.

A broken charger won’t charge your vaporizer’s battery even if you plug it into the right ports. You can tell that the charger is broken if the vape pen lacks the green indicator light or if the light flickers irregularly.

Sadly, most vape pen chargers are irreparable. A replacement is often the only viable option.

  1. Your Vape Pen Is Single-use

Single-use or disposable vaporizers come with a prefilled e-juice tank and pre-charged battery. You dispose of the device as soon as its tank or battery runs dry, whichever comes first.

A single-use vape pen ideally lacks a charging port. That explains why the device becomes dysfunctional as soon as the pre-charged power gets depleted.

  1. The Battery Is Dead

This is especially a common problem with older vape pens.

As a vape pen battery gets old, it increasingly struggles to hold on to charge. Long enough, even a fully-charged battery will only last you a few puffs.

Now, there’s no way to prevent your vape pen battery from becoming dead eventually. But you can increase its durability by investing in quality vape batteries, such as the 510-threaded battery.

Many other interventions may help prolong your vape pen battery’s lifespan. These include vaping at moderate temperature and only recharging your battery when it runs out of charge.

  1. There’s an Oil Leak

Oil leaks aren’t uncommon in vape pens. But that doesn’t make them any less harmful. A leaky cartridge may cause the oil to seep into the battery chamber, rendering the battery dysfunctional.

One way to prevent oil leaks is by leaving a small air pocket at the top whenever refilling your vape tank. It’s also important to fill the tank gently to avoid splashes or flooding.

Proper storage may also reduce leak-induced battery malfunctions. Always store your vape pen upright after each vaping session. When on long-haul trips, disassemble the device and store the battery in its own compartment.

  1. The Atomizer Is Malfunctioning

The atomizer is arguably the most important component of a vaporizer’s anatomy. It’s the part that converts e-juice into inhalable vapor.

Now, atomizer malfunctions are commonly associated with inadequate vapor and flavor production. However, they can also affect the battery’s performance.

For instance, a faulty atomizer may cause your vape pen’s battery to work harder than it should, leading to premature draining. Similarly, an overtightened atomizer may put undue strain on the battery and diminish your vaping experience.

The best way to troubleshoot this problem is to adjust the atomizer as required. You could also have the atomizer replaced altogether if the problem persists.

  1. You Haven’t Turned the Vape Pen On

As silly as it may sound, your vape pen battery won’t work if the device is turned off.

Fortunately, turning a vape pen on is one of the vaporizer problems that are easiest to resolve. Simply locate the device’s power button and rapidly press it the number of times specified in the manufacturer’s manual. This is usually 5 times but can vary from one vape brand to another.

Note that certain vape pens may also be draw-activated. As the name implies, these devices turn on when you take a draw into your mouth.

Final Word

Numerous things could cause your vape pen battery to malfunction. Fortunately, there are equally many interventions you can implement to keep the battery working optimally. Remember to keep an open mind for a possible replacement if everything else fails.
