One of the more anticipated matches at Summerslam will see the United States champion AJ Styles defend the title against Kevin Owens with Shane McMahon as the special guest referee.

The seeds have been planted for Kevin Owens to turn his attention to Shane McMahon over the last few weeks that even I thought they would be colliding at Summerslam. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case. As we have seen the last few weeks, there has been a ton of controversy that has pushed this feud for as long as it has. However, I see this feud being over and I see Summerslam being the spot.

I don’t know why, but something tells me that Shane McMahon will do something to cause Owens to go crazy. Then on the next episode of Smackdown, I could see him demanding a match with Shane McMahon. I could see Shane accepting it for either the September Smackdown Pay-Per-View or Hell in the Cell (October Smackdown PPV). Personally, I feel this brief feud will help Kevin Owens and Shane McMahon.

This would only be the third match for Shane McMahon since he returned to the WWE last February. The first two he would end up going up against AJ Styles and the Undertaker. If this is truly the end of the Owens-Styles feud, what do you do with AJ Styles? I don’t suspect we will see him feud with Nakamura so fast (If the WWE has a brain, they would hold off on having the two former NJPW stars feud heading into Royal Rumble or Wrestlemania 34). My guess is that they will have Styles be in small brief feuds that will give him momentum heading into the inevitable Nakamura feud. It is worth noting that depending on how Summerslam plays out, the feud with Nakamura could be for the WWE title.
