We’ve had the same beard styles for years, because there’s really no room for innovation in this field. However, the ones that were rocked last year weren’t that popular this year. This is how things go.

Of course, next year, other styles will climb to the top of popularity while some other ones will be temporarily forgotten. The trends for next year are already appearing, so we’ll seize this opportunity in order to present you the coolest ones for 2018.

Top Trends for 2018

1. The full beard

We’re pretty positive that 100 years from now, the full beard will be the most fabulous style ever. It goes without saying that it will endure in 2018. In fact, this might just be the single beard style has never missed from beard trends, regardless of year.

It requires some maintenance, true, but the result is amazing. Therefore, you cannot go wrong with the full beard.

2. Van Dyke Beard

The Van Dyke beard is basically mustache and a goatee. In order to get it, you’ll need to shave your cheeks. Curl up the ends of your mustache and you’ll drop some jaws. Johnny Depp, for instance, wears a Van Dyke and has done so for years.

It definitely contributes to him being a sex symbol. The Van Dyke beard is fairly easy to take care of. All you have to do is shave your cheeks and trim it if it gets out of hand.

3. The “5o’clock shadow”

The 5 o’clock is basically the stubble that grows on your face after 2 or 3 days since you’ve shaved. It’s more of a “non-beard”, if there’s such a thing, but it’s picking up ground again.

This look has endured for decades, alongside the full beard. Of course, it needs no maintenance… Just shave on a regular basis and let it grow again. The thing with this is that it can irritate your skin. If you can’t stand it, perhaps you should grow a full beard instead.

4. The Bandholz beard

The Bandholz beard is called, for some reason, “hipster beard”. It’s a long beard coupled with an abundant moustache. Unfortunately, it takes a lot of time to grow to a reasonable size and some may never actually be able to grow it, like ever…

This style is more popular than ever and there’s strong evidence that 2018 will be the year it shines in. If you can grow it, then do so by all means. You’ll be 100% trendy.

Final Thoughts

All things point towards the fact that these 4 beard styles will make a huge comeback in 2018. Choose the one you like most, depending on how fast your facial hair grows and how much time you’re willing to invest in it.

If you’re happy with the beard you have now, though, you shouldn’t change its style just because its “trendy”. You might not be happy with the end result. If you’re about to grow your first beard, then consider growing any of the aforementioned four
