With 2016 coming closer and closer to its end, the final major films of the year are hitting theaters. Marvel’s last major 2016 film, Doctor Strange has now been out for nearly a week, and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will wrap things up on December 16, 2016. With that said, it is time to start looking towards the 2017 movie slate. One of the most anticipated films of the coming year will be the middle of three Marvel movies set for release, Spider-Man: Homecoming, which will hit theaters on July 7, 2017.
Spider-Man is one of the most iconic comic book characters of all-time, and he has finally returned to the studio that will do Peter Parker justice. After two takes on the character, played by Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, Marvel Studios finally has Spidey in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, played by Tom Holland. The Holland version of the web-slinger has already made his MCU debut, appearing in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War, winning over fans in his brief time on screen.
With the praise Holland earned in his Spider-Man debut, it is obvious why his 2017 solo adventure is so highly anticipated. And like any major film that fans are eager to see, they are also eager to see the film’s first trailer. As of now we do not have any formal dates announced for when the first trailer will drop, but I do have a theory, which you can read here.
With little actually known about the film, besides who the main villain will actually be and the appearance of one of Marvel’s most famous Avengers. So the first trailer will likely contain some very interesting tidbits that will tell the fans a few things about what to expect in the film. But as of right now, let’s take a look at five things fans will want to see in the first Spider-Man: Homecoming trailer.
Michael Keaton’s Vulture
A while back it was confirmed that Michael Keaton would be joining the cast of the newest Spider-Man film. It was long rumored that he would be playing Vulture, who was known to be the main villain of the film. Just the other day, it was finally confirmed that Keaton would in fact be playing the big bad that would be taking on Holland’s Spider-Man.
With this confirmation, fans are even more eager to get their first official glimpse of the first big screen adaption of the classic Spider-Man villain. While Marvel could look to keep the Vulture’s look a secret for a while, it is also possible they could end the first trailer with the big reveal. This is reportedly what the studio back at Comic Con, when they gave some lucky fans their first look at the film, which was filming at the time.
Spidey’s New Toys
The film will have a familiar face for Marvel fans, as Robert Downey Jr’s Tony Stark will be showing up. With Stark in the mix, Spidey is sure to have a mentor to look up to. Another benefit of having Tony around is Peter Parker will be getting plenty of technology upgrades. We got our first glimpse of one of those upgrades during the credits of Captain America: Civil War, with the reveal of the Spidey Signal.
More of these types of toys are a lock for the film. Stark will be around to teach and train his young protege, as well as provide him with the best possible weapons. In the first trailer, it is very possible we get our first look at some of these new toys. While we may not know what they are called, seeing Spidey using some new techniques and tools would certainly be a welcomed sight.

Donald Glover
Donald Glover was once a fan favorite pick to play Miles Morales version of Spider-Man. Then he was cast in Spider-Man: Homecoming, and his role has been a total mystery. So obviously, any glimpse of Glover during the trailer would be welcome. Seeing Glover in action may give us some clues as to who is will be playing. You can take a look five potential characters Glover could be playing here.
Hints at whether Zendaya is playing Michelle or Mary-Jane
Nothing has caused more controversy in regards to this film than who Zendaya is playing. When the young actress was cast, it was said she would be playing a character named Michelle. But given the lack of Mary Jane and Gwen Stacy in casting, fans have not been able to help themselves but guess Michelle is just a cover up for Mary-Jane.
With that said, any clips of Zendaya in the first trailer could very well lay this debate to waste. Will she have the red Mary-Jane hair, or drop a famous MJ line? How will she interact with Peter during their scenes together? Zendaya has commented that her character is on the awkward side who is not a romantic interest for Parker. You can read more of her comments on her character here. Fans want to know for sure who she is playing, and the first trailer could be the next step in solving that problem.
Good ole fashion web-slinging action
Nothing says Spider-Man like seeing that red suit swinging around the city. So any Spider-Man trailer should see Peter Parker in his classic costume doing just that. Seeing Spidey go from building to building to the sound of a fun and upbeat song could help establish the tone of the film.
It will simply be nice to see Spider-Man gracing the screen once again. Anyone who was a fan of either Spider-Man installments before Holland’s version came around will surely intrigued by seeing the classic hero doing what he does best once again. The special effects they use to make Spidey swing around are always so realistic, and it will simply be great to see them once again.
