It’s interesting to say the least as on Monday afternoon authorities say an NFL player got arrested at a New York airport after police found a loaded handgun in his luggage. What do you know another player arrested in the off-season? After all a 2013 post Super Bowl party is nothing new especially with players that didn’t even get in the playoffs this season.
Now it turns out that Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive end Da`Quan Bowers did get arrested at LaGuardia Airport as he was about to board a US Airways flight to Raleigh, N.C. Authorities found the loaded .40-caliber weapon during a search of his carry-on bag after police revealed he was illegally carrying the handgun.
Another wild character out of the cage of off-season issues.
Currently he is being held in police custody as he awaits arraignment for charges of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and at the moment and efforts to reach him for comment by telephone were not returned. The Buccaneers haven’t returned messages seeking comment.
If this rings a bell arent these the same charges filed against Plaxico Buress?
Bowers played college football for Clemson University and drafted by the Buccaneers in the second round of the 2011 NFL draft. He missed the first six games of this past season with a torn Achilles tendon but returned in time record three sacks in the last 10 games for Tampa Bay.
According to a Queens district attorney’s office spokeswoman says “Bowers will be charged in Criminal Court.”
With free agency and the draft around the corner; Will the Buccaneers look for another defensive end?
