In today’s episode, Liberty Lad delves into Constitution Day and explains in detail why the Constitution is so important to American “survival.” He also updates on the 2016 presidential election, talks about a simulated Convention of States, and presents the argument that Obamacare is imploding.
Why is the Constitution so important? Because in the words of the immortal Ronald Reagan, our Constitution is the only one in the world that allows the people to tell the government what to do, instead of the other way around. In the Federalist No. 51 by James Madison, he writes that “If men were angels, no government would be necessary,” and that “if angels were to govern men neither external nor internal controls would be necessary.” The whole point of having the timeless document is that humans are far from perfect, and the Constitution is an everlasting legal contract that enforces the ideas outlined in the Declaration of Independence. Americans don’t need government to run our lives. Instead, we need government to get out of our lives and keep us safe.
The 2016 Presidential Election is shaping up to be a bit of a disaster for both parties. With Jill Stein and Gary Johnson now shut out of the debates, it is good that Trump can focus on going after Hillary’s blank record, radical stances on almost all issues and disastrous temperament to be elected dog catcher. Donald Trump is a terribly flawed candidate that champions soft statism and uses the government to pander to certain individuals, as evident in his maternity leave proposal. American women are no doubt the strongest and most resilient out there. They have the ability to pursue the American dream of happiness while also raising their children. How do we know that? It’s been done all throughout American history.
There will be a simulated Convention of the States happening in Virginia next week. This is an impeccable event as it can teach more people about what powers Article V grants the states and its citizens. Knowing what Article V allows us to utilize the invaluable weapon better against tyrannical governments, given to us by the Founding Fathers.
By the way, Obamacare is falling apart, fast. I think everybody already knows that, though, so it isn’t surprising.
