“Suicide Squad” will be hitting theaters in just over a month, and will be filled with tons of fun and intriguing characters. This is the third part of the six part Meet the Squad series that helps us get to know these characters that will be brought to life.

Every team needs to have a little bit of muscle, some crazy guy to provide some laughs, and a badass chick who can kick some serious ass. Thankfully for the squad, they have all three of those things. Their names are Killer Croc, Captain Boomerang and Katana.

Two of the three are legit members of the Suicide Squad, while one may simply be some sort of body guard for Rick Flag. But at the end of the day it does appear all three will be crucial members of the team, and integral in completing the teams’ mission. So let’s take a closer look at these three members of the “Skwad”, shall we.

Killer Croc

Real name Waylon Jones, Croc will be portrayed by Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje. He is often portrayed as having some form of rare condition that turns his skin hard, and often scaly. In the film, he has that full on man-crocodile look, as opposed to a walking, talking crocodile.

Croc is a Batman villain, like a majority of the characters in the Crocfilm. He will likely serve as the teams’ main muscle, as he will have no issues taking on challenges that require strength. Or eating people. Yeah that is kind of his thing. He does have the word Croc in his name after all.

Outside of that, not much to expect from Croc. He will likely be good for a laugh or two, likely following his devouring of humans. In the trailer it also appears he is given some form of knife, so we can probably also expect to see him stab a few baddies. Bottom-line, he is a guy you would not want to mess with.

Captain Boomerang

Real name George Harkness, Captain Boomerang will be portrayed by Jai Courtney. He does not really have any superpowers per say, as his special ability revolves around being an expert boomerang thrower. Think Hawkeye, but with boomerangs instead of arrows. He just has the perfect profile to be the main comic relief in the film.

This has been hinted at in the trailers as well, with several of the clips involving Boomerang lead to a chuckle. The one that sticks out is when the music paused so he can crack open his beer and take a sip, all while it appears like he is on the mission.

Captain boomerang

The trailer also does a good job at portraying him as being a bit crazy and having a short temper. When he gets cut out of his bag at an unidentified location where the team is brought together for the first time, he pops out and lands a solid right hook. He can also be seen screaming at the camera in his jail cell, begging to be let out.

He is a character that could certainly have a memorable moment. He appears to be able to fly off the handle at any given moment. For that reason you never know what he will do next. Will he try to escape? We will not know until August. “You know what they say about the crazy ones”; they provide some quality entertainment.

Katana

Real name Tatsu Yamashiro, Karen Fukuhara will be bringing Katana to life. Katana wields a sword that retains the souls of those that she kills, and she is pretty damn good at using it. She knows martial arts and will go head to head in combat with just about anyone, taking the souls of her victims as she goes.

It is not believed Katana is a convicted felon who is brought into the Suicide Squad due to her status as a criminal. Rumors are she will serve as some sort of body guard, potentially for Rick Flag. The real question is how she came to be involved with Amanda Waller and A.R.G.U.S. We really do not know if she will have any kind of criminal past, but my money is on no.

Katana

Most likely she will have been recruited to A.R.G.U.S by Waller, who then assigns her to protect Flag. This bodyguard mantle will likely lead to some pretty awesome ass kickings at the hands of Katana and her sword, appropriately named Soultaker.

Her serious nature will likely clash with the humor of another character, such as Captain Boomerang, leading to some awkward moments, providing the audience with a laugh. She will not be the focal point of the team, but she will certainly be near the top of the list of taking out bad guys.

Conclusion

Every team has to have its side players, and these three represent just that for the Squad. They won’t be the most talked about characters of the film, but they will all surely get their one big scene in the film. Each one is on the team for a reason, and look for that to be highlighted for all three.

All three are also expendable. The actors playing the roles are not A-listers, and not the main draws for the audience. Therefore if one or two of them does not make it to the end credits, it will not be a massive hit for a potential sequel.

That is not to say they will have no importance, or value to the film. The basis of what I am getting at is they should not be expected to be the characters you walk away from the theater screaming to see a solo film of. Those roles will likely be the Joker, Harley Quinn and Deadshot, all of whom could be the star of their own film. There is a reason those three roles are held by the three biggest names in the cast.

So look for Killer Croc to eat some people. Look for Captain Boomerang to be a likeable buffoon who makes you laugh with the ridiculous stuff he does. And look for Katana to kick some bad guy ass. It is very possible one or multiple of them leave fans wanting more. Maybe you walk away a huge fan of Killer Croc, and he is your new favorite. Just do not go in expecting them to steal the show, as they will have some serious competition for the title of “show-stealer”.

Check back in on Saturday, July 2nd to meet fellow Squad team members El Diablo and Slipknot.
