Cy Young
It seems for the past few years, the Cy Young discussion has floated amongst the same pitchers. Across both the National League and American League, the same strong arms have risen to the top. This season seems to be no different.
For the American League, Dallas Keuchel (LHP-HOU) is the man. To date, Keuchel has a 1.81 ERA. In his 69.2 innings pitched, he has a stunning .876 WHIP and a SO/9 of 8.0. Those numbers are practically unbelievable. At 29 years old, Dallas Keuchel is rocking it. The entire Houston Astros team has put on a stellar performance so far this year. It’s easy to get firing on all cylinders, when a leader like Keuchel takes the hill.
Clayton Kershaw (LHP-LAD) is a force to be reckoned with in the National League. He’s most likely the greatest pitcher of this generation. With a 2.37 ERA over 76 innings, Kershaw is a monster on the mound. He has allowed just 10 home runs this season, carrying a WHIP of .947 and a 9.2 SO/9. Year in and year out, Kershaw is delivering some of the greatest highlights from any pitcher. His stuff is nasty.
