One of the more entertaining games of the season last year came in the form of the New York Giants traveling down south to take on the New Orleans Saints. The Giants and Saints went toe to toe, and the Saints ended up pulling out the victory 52-49. This week we get the rematch, but this time, it will take place in the Meadowlands, as the 1-0 Giants play host to the 0-1 Saints. The Giants defeated the Cowboys 20-19 last week, while the Saints lost because of a bold two-point conversion called by Raiders’ coach Jack Del Rio.

The Saints proved last week; their offense is for real. Drew Brees threw for over 400 yards in the opening week against the Raiders and had four touchdowns to go with it. Three of those touchdowns and over 300 of those yards came from Brees’ top two targets, Willie Snead and Brandin Cooks, who will both be in this weeks game plan against the Giants secondary.

Eli Manning threw for three touchdowns last week and is set to go back and forth with Drew Brees this week. In other words, expect to see a lot of passing. Odell Beckham should be poised for a monster game, with rookie Sterling Shepard and salsa-dancing Victor Cruz once again in on the fun. The Giants do possess a more opposing defense this season, but that does not mean Brees won’t pick them apart for a handful of touchdowns.

But it will be the defense that ends up being the difference. The Giants defense will be able to make the big stop when they need to. On the other hand, the Saints defense won’t be stopping anyone this season. So that 4.5 point spread is still looking pretty good for the G-Men, and that 52.5 could very easily be blown out of the water.

Line: NYG -4.5, O/U: 52.5

Pick: Giants and the over

Result: NYG 16 – NO 13, Saints and the under
