On the first day for free agent signing, the Colts addressed some areas of need on offense and defense. Today is no different, as they found a new weapon to fill a vacancy on their wide receiver corps.

Former Houston Texans WR, Andre Johnson, has signed a three-year deal worth a reported $21 million. Johnson will be reunited with his former University of Miami teammate,  Frank Gore. Incidentally, Johnson will also likely be filling the void left by another University of Miami alum, Reggie Wayne.

It was suspected that Johnson would sign with the Colts, having traveled with Gore to visit with them on Tuesday. Today Johnson took to Twitter to confirm that he has in fact become a member of Indy’s Blue Nation.

So far in his career, Johnson has tallied 1,012 Rec for 13,597 Yds, and 64 Tds. Last season, Johnson did see a drop-off in production from the previous two seasons, where he recorded 100+ catches and 1,400+ yards in each. This was likely the result of a QB situation that was at best tenuous, with four different QBs taking snaps over the course of the season.

Coming to the Colts, Johnson has the opportunity to play with Andrew Luck, who is arguably the best young QB in the game. This is a deal that should definitely not only pay dividends for both players, but colts fans as well.
