The Oakland Raiders have built themselves a contender but it wasn’t easy and it sure wasn’t done the free agent way. It took years of losing and for me, years of heartbreak. I’ve been laughed out of Barber Shops, work cafeteria’s and other places all because EVERY year I blurt out to the world that the Raiders will make the playoffs.

Well, this year they’re on track to finally make a prophet out of me. It took some time but the team is here and the future looks bright. The Raiders are led by two young studs in, WR Amari Cooper and QB, Derek Carr. As good as they have been throughout their short careers, it will only get better for the Raiders.

A great WR and QB tandem require chemistry that only comes with practice and seasons spent together (unless you’re Randy Moss and Tom Brady). What Carr and Cooper have done in their 1.5 seasons together have been nothing short of outstanding, considering their inexperience as a duo and NFL players. Carr has thrown for 9, 578 yards, 70 TDs and Cooper has caught 124 passes for 1875 yards and 8 TDs. His numbers may not scream Antonio Brown or Julio Jones but Cooper is one of the sure-handed receivers that the NFL has.

The Raiders are 6-2 and while other have contributed to the success, it’s been the C&C Show in Oakland and it was on full display Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Carr threw for 513 yards and four touchdowns and Cooper caught 12 passes for 173 yards abs one touchdown. Those are stats, not just great stats but the kind u like to see next to a win. This is what the Raiders have been searching for, for years. The tradition is there but the present was short on production.

With Carr and Cooper leading the way, the Raiders are placed themselves in contender talks. Not just for the AFC West crown but Super Bowl.
