This Sunday, the Philadelphia Eagles will face another divisional foe in the New York Giants. The Eagles have lost their first two divisional match ups, but they won’t lose this one.
Usually, there is much hoopla and trash talking from the Giants camp about the Eagles, but they’ve been particularly quiet this season. Why? Well, maybe they don’t want to make the Eagles mad. We remember the last time the Giants mocked the Eagles about zero Super Bowls before their match up. The Eagles shut out the Giants 27-0 after that incident.
Maybe it’s the fact that the Giants haven’t beat the eagles since 2013, even then, they only defeated “The” great Matt Barkley who was playing quarterback in that game.

Now, the Eagles quarterback is Carson Wentz, who has half the interceptions Eli Manning does. Eli has 6, Wentz has 3. Wentz has more touchdowns than Eli as well. Eli has 8, Wentz has 9. Eli does have 400 more yards than Wentz does, that’s due to the Eagles very conservative short passing game. Both quarterbacks have nearly identical completion percentages. Wentz has been sacked 15 times, Eli has only been sacked 10.
Wentz has faced a lot of pressure up front this season, mainly due to injuries and suspensions on the offensive line, but he has still managed to shine, especially against the blitz.
Wentz does not make many mistakes, when he does, he learns from them. The Giants defense will not get very many chances to make a play. The Eagles, however, their defense has been very good as of late, especially against the Giants. Expect the Eagles to dial up a lot of pass rush and some of the same blitzes we’ve seen the last two weeks. The Eagles know how to rattle Eli and they’ve gotten very good at it over the years.
The Eagles offense has been fairly quiet as of late but will wake up in a big way this weekend. Bryce Treggs will be active for the first time this season, expect him to make a big play and take the top off the defense with a big play down the sidelines as Wentz opens up with a deep ball.
Jordan Mathews and Dorial Green-Beckham will shine for the Eagles this week and expect Zach Ertz to finally see some receptions as well.
The Eagles defense will once again shut down Manning, but don’t expect a shutout. Eli will get points on the board, but not enough.
The Eagles corners have not had an easy year, going against the league’s best receivers every single week it seems, this week is no different, Odell Beckham Jr will try to get open, but it won’t be his night at all.
