When it comes to the Seattle Seahawks you think of many big time players. Names like Steve Largent, Dave Krieg, Cortex Kennedy, and Marshawn Lynch just to name a few. However, the new-look Seahawks have a few names to watch in 2016 and the future. Here are 5 to keep your eyes on in 2016 and beyond.
Thomas Rawls. Rawls is an un-drafted free agent out of Central Michigan University. He came on the scene last season with Marshawn Lynch battling injury. He too then suffered his own injury. If he is able to fully recover from that injury in 2016 he could lead the Seahawks back tp the top of the NFC West. Keep your eye on the health of this young back.
CJ Prosise. Prosise is viewed as one of the top RBs in the 2016 NFL Draft. With the health of Thomas Rawls in question, the Seattle Seahawks brought in this young runner. If Rawls is healthy, Prosise will only add to the run game. He will be able to spell Rawls and create a 2-headed running monster. A 2-headed attack is something the Seahawks may need in order to replace the retired Marshawn Lynch.
Tyvis Powell. The Seahawks know that the Legion of Boom cannot stay together forever. With rising salaries and age there just may not be enough to keep the together. In comes Powell. He is 6’3” and weighs 211 pounds. He has been getting played in multiple positions in camp to see his versatility. With a full defensive backfield playing time there will be minimal. However, keep your eyes out for this kid on special teams while he bides his time for the LOB.
Doug Baldwin. Baldwin is now the number one receiver in Seattle. Is Baldwin go enough to be a number one WR? Baldwin is coming off of a career year. a year in which he eclipsed the 1000 yard mark and had 14 Tds. The Seahawks, outside of Baldwin, are relatively young at the position. If Baldwin can repeat 2015 the Seahawks air attack could be one to look out for.
Russell Wilson. The incumbent quarterback has been far from disappointing since coming on the scene in 2012. However, 2016 could be a change for Wilson with his recent marriage. We all know how marriage can change an athlete. We will see how it affects Wilson and his game. He has been a smart QB during his first 4 years. If he stays smart the Seahawks offense will be tough. Keep your eyes on Russell Wilson and see how he extends his leadership in 2016.
The Seattle Seahawks are in a tough place. They are coming off of, what was considered, a down year. The perennial playoff contender should be a contender again. These 5 players will be ones to keep your eyes on in 2016. They will make or break the chance of the playoffs.
