We are still over two months away from UFC 205 that is being held at Madison Square Garden in New York City. We now know the main event for the first UFC event in New York, and it came off as a surprise to some people.

A week ago, there were reports going around that UFC president Dana White was saying that Conor McGregor would not be featured on the card. However, that is not the case as of now with Conor. It was reported in the early hours of Tuesday morning that the main event of UFC 205 would be Conor McGregor vs. Eddie Alvarez for the lightweight championship.

If Conor does so happen to beat Eddie on November 12 at MSG, he will join BJ Penn and Randy Couture as the only UFC fighters to win titles in more than one weight class. However, what make this different than when BJ Penn and Randy Couture were able to accomplish this was that if Conor pulls this off, then he will hold the two titles at the same time. It should be noted that no fighter in the history of the UFC has held two titles at the same time. Dana White has been doing a media tour of in the Tri-State area and was recently in Bristol, CT at ESPN.

While he was on Sportscenter, he said, “ This is the fight that the fans wanted, and I’m excited that our first event at Madison Square Garden will be headlined by Eddie Alvarez defending the lightweight title against Conor McGregor.” He would also add, “This card has three world title fights and is the best card in UFC history.”

UFC 205 is looking like to be a great event for the UFC and it all happens on November 12, 2016, at Madison Square Garden. This is the first UFC event to be held in NYC since the ban was lifted earlier this year.
