Could we be getting the long awaited Brock Lesnar vs Goldberg match sooner rather than later?
Former WWE ring announcer Jim Ross tweeted out tonight that he is hearing that it looks more and more like we are going be getting the long awaited match between Brock Lesnar and Goldberg at Survivor Series this year. He even went on to say that the deal is probably done. The last time these two had a match was at Wrestlemania 20 in which was the last time Goldberg was in the WWE.
There is a saying within the wrestling world that you never say never. Some people thought that past wrestling legends like the Ultimate Warrior or Bruno Sammartino would ever do business again with the WWE and they both did. No one ever thought that Sting, the face of WCW, would ever step foot into a WWE arena. That would all change by Survivor Series in 2014 when he would make his debut by helping Dolph Ziggler beat Seth Rollins and put an end to the Authority.
Take someone like Goldberg, he has not appeared on WWE programming since his match with Brock Lesnar and went on the record for a long time to say that he would not return to the WWE. Then came the trailer of the WWE 2k17 game that if you happen to pre-order, then you get to play as Goldberg and people starting suspecting that he would be making his return. For the better part of the last six months, it was being rumored that Goldberg would be returning. I did a rumors piece on this a few weeks ago before Clash of Champions. In that article, I mentioned how I figured it would make sense for him to return at a bigger event or one of the big four events ( Royal Rumble, Wrestlemania, Summerslam, or Survivor Series). I think this would defiantly be a great draw for the WWE, but I think from a match aspect it won’t be great cause Goldberg is a lot older and hasn’t been in a WWE ring in years.
We will keep you up-to-date on the possibility of a Lesnar and Goldberg match happening. Here is the tweet that Jim Ross sent out earlier Tuesday evening about the possibility of this happening:
