It seems that WWE is planning on turning one of its most popular teams turn heel.
According to several WWE insiders, WWE is planning on turning the Usos heel to go ahead with the plans to have them go into a program with American Alphas for the Smackdown Live Tag team titles. The Usos have been on WWE TV since 2010 and have held the tag titles twice. Their first win of the tag titles came after they beat the New Age Outlaws on an episode of Raw before Wrestlemania 30. They also have won the Slammy Award for being the Tag team of the year in 2014 and 2015, while the one they would win in 2015 would be questioned because fans thought it should have gone to the New Day.
The Usos were most recently featured with their cousin Roman Reigns from October 2015 to May of 2016, with their association ending after their and Roman Reigns feud with the Club. After this program would come to an end, we would end up seeing less of the Usos on TV because Jey Uso was very injury prone.
However, during the WWE Draft that took place on July 19th on the first episode of Smackdown Live, Smackdown Live would end up taking American Alphas as one of their early picks. They would end up taking the Usos later on when the draft went to the WWE network.
This made it clear that the Usos are the Number 2 team on Smackdown Live, and American Alphas are the team that WWE is choosing to push. If you see the other teams on the Smackdown Live roster, you have the Hype Bros (Zack Ryder and Mojo Rawley), the Vaudevillians ( Aiden English and Simon Gotch), the Ascension( Konnor and Viktor) and Breezango ( Tyler Breeze and Fandago).
Some would say that the only two viable teams who can go into a program for the tag titles on Smackdown and that would make sense are American Alphas and the Usos. There is just one problem with that, how can you have two babyfaces go up for the titles. WWE is considering turning the Usos heel to be able to do this.
The heel turn started to become seen at the kickoff show when there was a misunderstanding between the two teams and thus teasing that these two teams are going to be entering some program. According to several insiders, the reason to turn the Usos heel is to elevate American Alphas and raise the tag team division on Smackdown.
This would be a very nice change for the Usos who have been a bland babyface run, and the WWE crowd have reacted to them in a negative way. During a recent appearance on the WWE Network’s Talking Smack, the Usos said that they are getting booed by fans because of their association with Roman Reigns. But I feel it was more because they are more of a bland tag team who no gimmick or nothing to have the fans get behind them.
