With perhaps the most anticipated NBA season in history set to tip-off, 2017 could prove to be a banner year for hoops.
In a off-season to remember that saw some of the biggest names in basketball change teams via free agency and trade such as Jimmy Butler, Kyrie Irving, Isaiah Thomas, Carmelo Anthony, Paul George, Chris Paul, Dwayne Wade and Derrick Rose, the landscape of basketball is entirely different and completely new.
While Golden State remains the undisputed 800-pound gorilla and prohibitive favorite, conference rivals such as Oklahoma City and Houston have upgraded thanks to their additions of the forementioned Paul, George and Anthony, while rival Cleveland added Thomas, Rose and Wade—who in turn—lost Irving to East rival Boston.
If you’ve never been a basketball fan before this past summer, you will be by this spring, in what will be an excited and competitive year.
One of the things fans will get a chance to witness this year is the birth of the league’s newest rivalry and blood feud between the Boston Celtics and the Cleveland Cavaliers. While the teams don’t have much of a storied history as Lakers-Celtics and Cavs-Warriors, thanks to recent playoff matchups—which Cleveland eliminated Boston in the 2015 East quarterfinals and last spring’s conference finals—Celtics-Cavs got a injection of rivalry juice, thanks to the recent Isaiah Thomas-Kyrie Irving blockbuster trade.
While Cleveland is the Beasts of the East, Boston could be the one thorn in their side, who could pose a threat. One such fan who hopes to see Boston topple the King and Cavs is Aussie Instagram glamour model, Jess McLeod.
A real ginger firecracker if their ever one, the 26-year-old curvy red-headed stunner, has been featured in MAXIM and has her own calendar. Born in Adelaide and based in Melbourne, Australia, the feisty and outspoken McLeod is a huge NBA fan, as she loves the Celtics and Warriors—most notably Step Curry.
Thanks to the success of Aussie-born shooting guard Rachel Jarry of the WNBA champion Minnesota Lynx, McLeod is a huge supporter of NBA hoops and her Celtics overall.
Below is my Q and A with INSCMagazine’s first-ever NBA Glamour Girl as we talk Celtics, the recent IT/Kyrie trade, OZ ballers, the difference between Aussie, Eurro and American models, how and why Australia produces so many hotties.

You seem to be a real firecracker based on some of the photos of you on Instagram, is that a fair assessment Firecracker? I’ve never used that word to describe myself before, but now that I think about it, it definitely does fit!
What is it about gingers and redheads in general being so feisty? It’s because we’re literally made out of fire!
How many times do you get asked about the “carpeting” matching your hair color? Too many to count.
You have the PAWG/shapely white girl ass thing going on, how many compliments do you get from it on the daily? Oh man! Am I going to sound up myself if I say I get it a lot? I’m not going to say I get it a lot. But I get it a lot haha
Australia seems to be producing some fine-ass women these days, what are y’all eating and drinking down there? Alcohol and Bunnings snags! (You guys might have to google that to make sense of it! haha)
As a glamour model based from OZ, what would you say are the biggest differences in the acceptance of glamour modeling in Australia as opposed to the States? Everyone seems pretty accepting. I see a lot of girls from overseas who get A LOT of hate on their social media. Thankfully I haven’t really experienced any of that side of things.
Difference between American, Aussie and European models? I think the biggest difference is that Aussie girls in general are way more laidback, and definitely take the piss more – and don’t take themselves too seriously (at least I don’t)
You are very fit, firm and sexy! what is your secret to staying in shape? I work out every day and I try to eat healthy! I do enjoy a sneaky Maccas run though
Would you say that there is a great emphasis on staying in shape down there , if so, why? Yes, definitely. Because it’s too hot to wear clothes, so you’ve got to look good naked.
As a model, what has been the greatest thing about doing and being both? For doing, it’s getting to go to some really cool locations to shoot, and as for being? I enjoy sticking it to all the bitches from back in high school! Haha
What has been the best place you’ve been too and visited so far? The Kokoda Trek in Papua New Guinea. Finished it two months ago and it was one of the most amazing experiences of my life.
How long have you been modeling? I started doing photoshoots for fun three years ago, but I’ve only really started doing it seriously within the last few months.
What first inspired you to become one? Literally no reason – it was just for a laugh
How do you loved ones and family feel abut you being in modeling? Everyone is extremely supportive! A few of my girl friends even have my calendar on their walls!
Where has been your favorite place to shoot? Murray Falls in Far North Queensland. It’s an amazing set of waterfalls in the rain forest.
What is the most exciting aspect of modeling? I’ve always loved dressing up, and doing different styles of makeup, now I have a good excuse to do it whenever I want!
With fall (spring down there) right around the corner, what fashion and style tips and trends do you have for looking good when the temperature rises? The less clothes the better.
Biggest fashion and swimwear trend down there? I don’t really keep up with fashion trends, I just wear what I like. As for swimwear, it’s ALL about Wicked Weasel.
G-string, bikini, thong or commando? What’s your preference? G-strings for everything!
Must-have swimwear style? Literally anything from Wicked Weasel!
Fave lingerie style? Any bras that I can wear as a top, like the ones from Honey Birdette.
Any plans for spring down there? Yep! Getting married in about five weeks, and then heading to the Caribbean for my honeymoon!
Within the industry, who is your modeling inspiration? Leanna Decker. My all-time favourite redhead. (And Jessica Rabbit)
What is your workout and fitness secret to staying in shape? Healthy diet and exercise. It’s not rocket science haha
Aside from the flaming hot red hair, What would you say is your best feature? If you asked 10 people, 5 would say my boobs, 5 would say my butt. But since you’re asking me, it’s my left earlobe
Any future projects coming down the pipeline? Heaps! I’ve just finished a bunch of shoots for my 2018 calendar (which is available now on my website – shameless plug!) haha
Outside of modeling, what are your hobbies? I’m a qualified makeup artist, so makeup is both a hobby and a career for me. And I absolutely love it. I’m also absolutely obsessed with animals and want to look into making a career out of that too!
Sports question: Who are your favorite teams and clubs The Boston Celtics. We miss you IT!
How and why are you a Celtics fan? My fiance is a DIE HARD, life long Celtics fan, so he brainwashed me!
I’m a Cavs fan, and you’re a Boston fan, what was your reaction to the IT/Kyrie trade? I was legitimately devastated when they traded IT. I know our new lineup looks better than last year’s on paper, but still.
Word on the street is that you’re going to be off the market and spending your honeymoon in Miami to catch the Heat/Celtics game, hoping to score Kyrie’s autograph? If I could get a selfie with anyone from the team it would be amazing!
How did you get to become such a big hoops fan? My fiancé brainwashed me! I never really followed it at all until we got together!
You know that Kyrie was raised in Australia, and that we (the Cleveland Cavaliers) had fellow Aussies in Andrew Bogut and Matthew Dellavedova. Who is your all time fave OZ baller? Rachel Jarry – plays for the Aussie women’s national team, and won a WNBA ring with Minnesota!
We both hate Golden State equally, do you think they will win it all again? Actually I don’t hate the Warriors…I’m a self confessed Steph Curry fan! haha!
What advice would you give to women aspiring to get into modeling? Heaps of people ask me how I became so body confident (and confident in general). I don’t actually have confidence – I just have a total lack of fucks given! But really – just stop stressing about what other people think and just be yourself.
