BOSTON – Thanks to a grand slam by Shane Victorino, the Boston Red Sox are back in the World Series.
Down 2-1 in the seventh inning, Victorino would hit an 0-2 pitch off of Jose Vera over the Green Monster in left field and set up a rematch with the St Louis Cardinals, whom they swept in 2004 to end their storied 86-year drought.
Boston would outlast 21-game winner Max Scherzer, 5-2 and avoid facing Tigers ace Justin Verlander in a winner-take-all Game 7.
With the win, the Red Sox are in the World Series for the third time in ten years.
