NEW YORK CITY, NY – Thanks to record-breaking year out in USC, the man called “Superman” in QB Caleb Williams earned his Heisman Trophy cape Saturday night.

Williams, a 6’1 210-pound native of Washington, D.C. set Trojan records with 4,447 total yards, being responsible for 47 total touchdowns in being the PAC-12’s first Heisman winner since Marcus Mariota out of Oregon in 2014.

For the season, the former Oklahoma Sooners transfer completed 296/448 passes (66.1 percent) for 4,075 yards, 37 touchdowns and four interceptions. Williams joins fellow Trojan winners RB Mike Garrett (1965), O.J. Simpson (1968), Charles White (1979), RB Marcus Allen (1981), QB Carson Palmer (2002) and QB Matt Leinhart (2004)

Per the accounting firm, Ernest and Young, Williams received 544 first-place votes for a total of 2,031 points, with TC QB Max Duggar finishing second with 188 points, CJ Stroud third with 37 and Stetson Bennett fourth with 36.

Williams becomes the sixth sophomore to win—and the second straight, joining last year’s winner, Alabama Crimson Tide QB Bryce Young. Williams also joins the forementioned Palmer and Leinhart as the third Trojan QB to win college football/s most prestigious award.

USC joins longtime rival Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Florida and Florida State as schools with three Heisman quarterback winners. With Williams’ Heisman win, Trojans HC Lincoln Riley had coached his third winner in five years, joining Baker Mayfield (2017) and Kyler Murray (2018).
