Lucha Underground has gained quite a cult following since its debut in 2014. With the popularity of Lucha Libre in Mexico and the United States, it’s no surprise as to the success the show is having.

However, Without a good roster of talent, Lucha Underground is just another worthless wrestling promotion.

One of the most decorated wrestlers on Lucha Underground is Prince Puma. The first ever Lucha Underground Champion, he’s arguably the heart and soul of the show. Although, it’s who’s behind that mask that really makes the Prince Puma character compelling.

If you’ve never heard of Ricochet then you’re missing out. One of the most eccentric and high-flying wrestlers on the independent scene, he’s the man behind the Prince Puma mask. Many say he’s the best wrestler not in the WWE, but that could change very soon.

As Lucha Underground finishes its third season in September, Ricochet, whose real name is Trevor Mann, contract expires with the company. Many believe he’s WWE bound after this time. If that were to happen, it would be one of the biggest signings the company has ever had.

Currently, Ricochet is working with New Japan Pro Wrestling, where he’s held numerous titles. The opportunity to go to WWE, which he’s come out and stated he wants to do, will give him, even more, exposure to the mainstream wrestling audience.

Some more dedicated wrestling fans will recall his matches with Will Osprey. Although, the more casual fan will recognize him from Lucha Underground. He’s had some amazing matches with many promotions top stars. Which makes some wonder as to what that would mean for a WWE future.

Regardless of whether Ricochet debuts on NXT or 205 Live, he’s already faced some WWE competition. At indie promotions across the world, we’ve seen him go up against Kevin Owens, Akira Tozawa, Johhny Gargano, Rich Swann and many others.

Ricochet is a proven pro and should have instant chemistry with the current roster. Unlike a wrestler such as the original Sin Cara, who couldn’t work the WWE style, Ricochet has been well-trained and can adapt to the WWE.

Quite frankly, he shouldn’t need much time at the development center in Orlando. He’d probably be brought up to NXT or 205 Live rather quickly upon his signing.

So what can we expect from Ricochet in the WWE? With the current state of the Cruiserweight division, you can expect him to be one of the more over wrestlers on the roster. Just imagine a match with Ricochet and Austin Aries. How great would that match be?

Unfortunately, you don’t hear a lot from Prince Puma in Lucha Underground, so it’s unclear how well Ricochet will be able to cut a promo. However, that’s something that can be worked on rather easily. And really that might be the only fault he has in a wrestling ring.

Mic ability aside, Ricochet should be a WWE wrestler when his Lucha Underground contract expires. He’s probably the most exciting wrestler the indie scene currently has. And with the WWE’s aggressiveness in scouring the globe for wrestling talent, he’s got to be on the top of their list.

Depending on what route they take with the character, Ricochet/Prince Puma could continue his masked gimmick he has in Lucha Underground, with the intent of making him better versions of Sin Cara and Kalisto, and possibly the next Rey Mysterio. It’s also not out of the realm of possibility that WWE ditches the mask, making him more like his current New Japan run.

It’s no secret that WWE wants Ricochet. In fact, it appears that Ricochet wants the WWE. Hopefully, we can see Prince Puma/Ricochet in a WWE ring by October. It’s truly a match made in heaven.
