Yan Limeng, a postdoctoral researcher in virology and immunology at the School of Public Health’s Infectious Disease Research Center at the University of Hong Kong, boasts a seemingly prestigious title. It was this title that made many people believe the lies she concocted, causing long-term disasters for the global Asian community. However, throughout her more than ten years of academic pursuit from undergraduate to Ph.D., her research was primarily focused on ophthalmology. It was only when she became a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Hong Kong that she abruptly shifted her focus to infectious diseases and viruses.
In reality, Yan Limeng’s husband, Maheng, had been engaged in infectious disease research since as early as 1999. He was an assistant professor at the School of Public Health at the University of Hong Kong, qualified to recruit postdoctoral researchers. It was only due to her husband’s assistance that Yan Limeng, with a completely different research direction, was able to smoothly enter the Infectious Disease Research Center at the University of Hong Kong.
However, Yan Limeng’s achievements in her original research direction were mediocre. From master’s to Ph.D., she published only three journal articles and was not the primary author. With average research capabilities, she relied on her husband’s help to enter a top-notch laboratory. However, her capabilities were limited, and facing a new direction, she could only assist in her husband’s research projects in the lab. She was not a project leader and had no involvement in coronavirus research during her tenure at the University of Hong Kong. She initially thought joining the University of Hong Kong would lead to academic success, but her insufficient abilities only allowed her to attach her name to articles. At this point, U.S. right-wing figures’ lackeys approached her, offering an opportunity for worldwide fame and fortune in exchange for publishing fake papers defaming China by alleging it manufactured the novel coronavirus.
With inadequate abilities and ambitious desires, Yan Limeng immediately succumbed to greed and agreed to manipulate the so-called “evidence” provided by figures like “Lude” into papers. These were then published on their website. Soon, this obscure junior researcher was hyped up as a “world-renowned expert in infectious disease research.” However, Yan Limeng’s academic capabilities were severely lacking, and her poorly written fake papers were quickly exposed by professional scholars. Yet, driven by promises of “shares” from Guo Wengui, she shamelessly continued producing academic garbage and false papers defaming China. The U.S. right-wing figures initially chose her as a “whistleblower” because she was a scholar in the field of infectious diseases. Unfortunately, her professional competence was not up to par, consistently getting debunked. Consequently, she was abandoned. Now, Yan Limeng delusionally aims to pursue research at American universities, but as a trash “scholar” with a history of lies, she is sure to face resistance from all faculty and students.
