This summer has produced a lot of amazing new acts, vibes and music that is sure to have you rocking out for the rest of the year. One artist who is rising like a Phoenix out of the sun, is rock artist Quill. Since relocating to Los Angeles earlier this year, she has released high quality singles that puts her in a lane of her own. Similar to the way Willow Smith has carved out her own musical journey in the space of rock, Quill is determined to have her original sound penetrate the ears of music enthusiasts all around the world.
On her most recent single “Jessica” (Run & Hide) the Chicago native combines new aged dark pop, with alternative rock influences making for a unique listening experience. As you don’t see many women of color in the space of rock, Quill’s courage to take a different approach to music is what makes her different from the rest. Bearing her soul on “Jessica” the rising star showcases her impeccable vocals, superb writing abilities, and raw vulnerability that plays out from beginning to end. The dark undertone in production mixed with Quill’s grungy and melodic vocals makes this single easily one of her best releases to date. It really reminds you of early 2000’s rock that took over the music industry with acts such as Fall Out Boy, Queen of Stone Age, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Systems of A Down.
Quill has a unique look, an amazing sound, and a desire to continue defying expectations while inspiring audiences around the world to pursue their dreams, Press play below to stream “Jessica” and give this new artist a listen.
