Since Latin Grammy winning/Grammy nominated record producer and engineer Jake Carmona moved to the US five years ago, his hard work and dedication have certainly paid off. Originally from Monterey, Mexico, he grew up in a musical family, including his father who was a renowned musician and producer, and gave him his first taste of being in a recording studio. Starting a career in producing at the young age of 14, over the years he has worked with many artists in several genres, including Grammy nominee – Nadia, Latin Grammy winners – Costumbre, Alica Villarreal, División Minúscula, Insite, Latin Grammy nominees – Los Claxons, Clemente Castillo, The Warning, Mind Cinema, Thomas Lang, Andy Grammer, Colin Hay, Greg Bissonette, Cecilia Noël, Luis Conte, Brenda Russell and Pat Metheny. Needless to say, Jake’s skills and talent have taken him to places only others could dream of.
When he arrived in the competitive city of Los Angeles to continue his music career, he began gaining exposure working under many top producers and engineers and has since been able to build a steady clientele that he continues to build to this day. Known for his exceptional abilities as both a producer and musician, one of his most recognized qualities is bringing out the best in each artist he works with; including helping them reach new heights, especially on a vocal level.
He is currently the head engineer for Men at Work lead singer Colin Hay at his production studio “Lazy Eye Records”, in Los Angeles, as well as being the head engineer at renowned percussionist Luis Conte’s studio “Magnifico Studios”. In addition to being their studio engineer, Jake also co-produced both of their upcoming albums which are set to be released next year.
Last year, he worked with one of Mexico’s most famous rock bands, División Minúscula on their new album and toured with them as their fill-in drummer across the US -many of which included sold out venues.
As Jake Carmona continues to reach new levels of success with his career, it is only a matter of time till he reaches superstardom in the world of music!
