Many were not expecting this pick but it should have been one of the considerations at 16. An Alabama cornerback was definitely going to entice Ozzie. It was a position of need and would be of interest due to the Alabama connection. This offseason, they addressed the secondary by adding Tony Jefferson, Brandon Carr and Ladarius Webb back as depth. Now Humphery completes the secondary as the last piece for the secondary to be the strength for the Ravens.

Humphrey has the rare combination of speed and size and the physicality the Baltimore Ravens want on their defense. He is always looking to make a hard tackle and goes after the ball as a physical player. But some flaws in his game is he is too aggressive and needs to be more aware at times.  He was part of a great Alabama defense that won the championship in 2015. Humphery gives the Ravens depth in the secondary they have not had in a while.

Humphery is a long term solution to replacing Jimmy Smith in a few years.

He is very young (20) and has the upside to start sooner rather than later. If cornerback really does not work out, he can be a versatile player and play safety once Eric Weddle retires. Some may consider this pick a reach, but it was the right one.
