Since the 2024 season began it has become no secret that Cleveland Browns were out of patience with quarterback Deshaun Watson.
It has been loud and clear from Browns fans that Watson has not played well enough to play. Head coach Kevin Stefanski even addressed the issue, indicating that he was not going to make a change at quarterback.
Stefanski made it clear that Watson gives Cleveland the best chance to win. Hard to argue with him when it comes that statement.
Today, Watson clearly was the best of the three quarterbacks who saw the field today. Unfortunately he will not play again this year as he suffered an achilles injury.
Dorian Thompson-Robinson struggled throwing the football completing 11 of 24 passes for 82 yards. Jameis Winston came in late to put together a late scoring drive with the game already out of reach. He completed five of 11 passes for 67 yards and a touchdown.
As for Watson prior to his injury he completed 15 of 17 passes for 128 yards.
It is going to become even more painful for Browns fans as the schedule does not get any easier. There is possibly two winnable games for the remainder of the season the New Orleans Saints and the Miami Dolphins if Tua Tagovailoa is not starting.
2024 has become one to forget for Browns fans. Also, it is doubtful that Stefanski makes it through the entire season.
Looking forward to 2025, Watson’s contract does not allow the Browns to move on from him. It also depends on how well his rehab goes.
The offensive line needs upgrading, more depth at running back is needed, and after trading away Amari Cooper a legitimate no.1 receiver as well.
At least Browns fans will have some entertainment in the off season. When it comes to what moves the front office will make.
