CHICAGO, IL — Thanks to a head-scratching and questionable condescension to call a timeout before losing 20-17 to the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving, the Chicago Bears fired head coach Matt Eberflus
Charged with the task of trying to develop the top overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft in Caleb Williams, Eberflus has instead stunted Williams development thanks to a series of baffling coaching calls this season.
None the less, here are the top three head coaching candidates that the Bears should target.
1.) Joe Brady, offensive coordinator, Buffalo Bills: If there is a 1A in hottest head coaches in the NFL ready to be a head coach, it is Brady.
First bursting on the national scene in helping develop Joe Burrow at LSU to currently being the man behind NFL MVP frontrunner Josh Allen, Brady is young, innovative and able to speak the same language as today’s young signal callers.
If here is something that Williams needs is someone who gets him and is able to get the best out of his talent, and Brady just might be that guy.
2.) Ben Johnson, offensive coordinator, Detroit Lions: The 1B to Joe Brady’s 1A, Johnson is the architect behind Detroit’s prolific offense m, which has them on course for the franchise’s first ever Super Bowl appearance.
Like Brady, Johnson is working with his own NFL MVP candidate in Jared Goff, who has looks reborn in the Motor City thanks to Johnson.
If Johnson can do wonders with Goff, imagine what he could do with a dynamic talent like Caleb.
3.) Mike Vrabel, special assistant and consultant, Cleveland Browns: Just in case the Bears decide to go back to their roots of having a tough-minded, no nonsense kind of a head coach, Mike Vrabel would be perfect for them.
Currently taking a year off of coaching, and working as a special assistant and consultant for his hometown Cleveland Browns, Vrabel had seen and experienced head coaching success with the Tennessee Titans.
While Brady and Johnson would inject a new offensive energy into the Bears, Vrabel has the experience already being a head coach at the highest level.
