Fearlessly gritty, melodically enchanting, all the more powerful as hits of dreamy escapism when listened to at volume or at near silence – the wildly improvised drums compositions and sound-design from Wojtek Deregowski, a celebrated drummer from Poland, really let the natural qualities of his esteemed works shine brightly, with the help of imaginative, top-of-the-line drums beats setting. His attention to detail and fine balance between composed and passionate improvisation ultimately delivered a naturally engaging first listen – the best we have heard from a Polish jazz musician so far this year, and something that will no doubt set most listeners off on a search for more of his live shows. Apart for Deregowski’s solo concerts, this impressive venue Teatro Central in Seville hosted other international drums icons including Aaron Smith, Jared Falk (Drumeo), Chus Gancedo, Ash Soan (Adele, Cher, Seal, Robie Williams, Billy Idol.) and Camille Bigeault. Wojtek also played the highly anticipated Ronald’s new drum kit, which we loved.
