Training camp for the Cowboys could bring disaster. Yesterday, while chasing down Ezekiel Elliott, Dallas Cowboys defensive end Tyrone Crawford injured his ankle.

After leaving practice early, Crawford would undergo an X-Ray which would show no fracture or break. However, early diagnosis states that Crawford sustained a “lateral right ankle sprain”. Dallas Cowboys staff expect Crawford to be back by the season opener.

There is some silver lining in this injury news, sort of. The injury to Crawford’s foot occurred on his right foot. Crawford tore his Achilles on his left foot a few years ago. The silver lining, if there really is one, would be the quicker recovery time for a foot which hasn’t been injured (hopefully).

The Cowboys will be without Tyrone Crawford as they take on the Los Angeles Rams this Saturday. Maybe with the injury happening during the preseason, Crawford will be able to rest up and come back better than ever.

However, with his absence, the Cowboys are slowly thinning out in terms of pass rushers. Demontre Moore and David Irving will miss a few games early in the season due to suspension. With that said, the Cowboys can’t afford any injuries on defense. If the suspensions weren’t enough, according to Bloggingtheboys.com, the Cowboys missing Crawford means they’ll miss one of their best players so far this preseason.

One person who may be thrust into this role: Taco Charlton.  Carlton is a young player that coaches were excited for in the draft.  Carlton brings speed, a knack for sacks, and versatility.  One perk that seemed to stick out most was his ability to play anywhere.  Charlton, and the likes of DeMarcus Lawrence could present an interesting pass rush.  With that said, the injury could also prove that Crawford, Charlton, and Lawrence should be used on the field at the same time.
