If you are thinking of ditching your exhausting corporate job to pursue your passion, then travel blogger William Tang’s journey will definitely be enough to motivate you.
Will has a wealth of experience as an electrical engineer, which would attract any employer to welcome him aboard to their team, but that is not the life he wanted to live. Perhaps during the mundane corporate routine, he recognized his love for traveling. In 2012, he took the plunge and quit working as a software consultant. Without any job lined up, he went on to travel around Asia.
“I’d like to think that my story is an inspiring one where I made a big leap of faith from a comfortable corporate job in consulting to start a travel blog at a time when it wasn’t clear whether there were legitimate ways to make money and create a career from,” he explains.
Almost eleven years later, William Tang is today the name behind one of the top travel blogs around the world, Going Awesome Places. As a travel blogger, Will ensures that his brand creates the most informative and detailed content that covers the true need-to-knows of any destination.
Sharing his obsession with travel blogging, Will says, “This mini start-up of mine has really been about building a business that’ll give me the freedom to travel while also giving back to my readers and empowering them to go on incredible adventures as well.”
To say the least, William has managed to carve a path for himself as a travel guide through his endless travels that span almost 52 countries and his love for capturing exotic places. He believes that when it comes to trip planning, he has OCD, and that is probably how he has come this far in living his dream — traveling for a living.
“It’s crazy to think that I started off as an electrical engineer and am now a travel blogger. What I never saw coming was that I’d ditch a cushy career in engineering to become a writer, YouTuber, blogger, influencer, content creator, producer, or whatever they call us these days – the dream!”
