If Sony does indeed follow through with its plans to release a film based on the popular villain Venom, then we might have found a worthy candidate to play Eddie Brock.

While speaking with Irish Central, WWE superstar Sheamus, whose real name is Stephen Farrelly, has expressed interest in the role of Brock. Farrelly stated the following during the interview.

“I always read comic books as a kid, I always remember Eddie Brock, who was Venom in the Spider-Man comics. He was kind of a red head. I’d love to play the role of Venom and Eddie Brock. Venom was one of my favorite characters. It would be a dream come true for me to star in the next Spider-Man film as Venom.”

It wouldn’t be a stretch to see another professional wrestler become a full-time actor.

Recently, Dwayne Johnson and Dave Bautista have turned their time in the squared circle into successful acting careers, and have parlayed their talents into the comic book world. Bautista has had major success in another Marvel comic book adaptation, Guardians of the Galaxy, while Johnson will transform into Black Adam for DC’s upcoming slate of comic-related films.

While Farrelly does indeed have a superhero build, he also has a strong Irish accent that might not necessarily fit the Brock character.

However, Sony should certainly consider the former WWE champion when brainstorming actors for the role, because Sheamus might indeed be the right “fella” for the role.
