When Mike Colter was cast as Luke Cage for the upcoming slate of Marvel’s new Netflix franchise A.K.A. Jessica Jones, at least one person was left heartbroken, Terry Crews.

The Brooklyn 99 actor spoke on the matter during a recent Reddit interview.

“I always did love Luke Cage, and I’m really, really happy about who they cast in the Netflix version of Luke Cage. So that’s something that’s already done.”

Crews is one of Hollywood’s most recognizable actors. Currently, Crews stars in the aforementioned Brooklyn 99, but he is well known for his role in the Expendables franchise. Anyone who have seen Crews in action knows he is an ideal build for the role of Luke Cage.

However, when one door closes another door opens, and Crews is looking at the Cage casting as another opportunity. He stated during the same interview his desire to portray another iconic Marvel superhero.

“But you know who else I’d like to play? The Silver Surfer. I always LOVED — I thought I had the build, the body, I could get on that surfboard, and if they ever do a live-action version of Silver Surfer, I think that would be perfect for me.”

While there are no plans to include Silver Surfer in any future Marvel Comics films, Crews could be setting himself up for future roles down the road, whether that be with Marvel, Fox, or any other studio looking for a potential superhero.

Maybe losing out on Luke Cage wasn’t the worst thing to happen to Crews.
