Rumors of Nova being a part of Guardians of The Galaxy 2 have been running rampant across the internet. Is it possible Richard Rider could be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe? I wouldn’t get your hopes up.
According to a Facebook post from Guardians director James Gunn, Nova is not in the plans for the sequel.
“I don’t want Nova right now because I think Quill being the only earthling is important. That serves the entire movie going audience and not just the handful of Nova fans. Sorry if that upsets you.”
It seems like Gunn has shut the door on Nova, but considering the direction the first film took (the introduction of the Nova Corps space police force) his inclusion in future films might be a welcome addition. However, it is possible another comic book hero could be on the way to the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
The more intriguing rumor would be whether or not Gunn decides to include Adam Warlock in future films.
As many fans know the cocoon, which was in the possession of the Collector, was split open during the movies end credit scene. Gunn has stated that the cocoon does indeed belong to Warlock, and with a few infinity stones still unaccounted for, his presence might be seen in future films.
The cosmic aspect of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is certainly expanding. In addition to the Guardians of the Galaxy sequel Marvel will release the Inhumans during its Phase three slate of films. Regardless, if the film debuts of Nova and Adam Warlock come into fruition, we can absolutely expect to see new and fresh characters debut in the near future.
