In the world of cyber security, Adam McManus has emerged as an authority, providing insights and solutions to safeguard businesses against digital threats. As the CEO and Founder of Fortress Tech Consulting, Adam and his team offer strategic guidance and technologies to protect organizations from the increasing complexities of cyber attacks.

From a young age, Adam McManus developed a deep fascination with technology and its potential to transform businesses. This passion, combined with a natural inclination towards problem-solving, led him to specialize in cyber security. Recognizing the urgent need to safeguard businesses against evolving digital threats, Adam has dedicated himself to staying at the forefront of technological advancements and emerging security trends.

Adam McManus founded Fortress Tech Consulting, a company he continues to lead. With an understanding of the complex and ever-changing cyber threat landscape, Adam and his team at Fortress Tech Consulting help businesses mitigate risks effectively.  Leveraging their expertise, they develop security strategies that encompass threat detection, vulnerability assessments, incident response, and compliance frameworks.

Adam believes in a proactive approach to cyber security, working closely with clients to identify vulnerabilities and implement defenses to safeguard against both known and emerging threats. He also helps his client’s develop a strong “cyber hygiene culture”.

“Education and awareness play a critical role in preventing cyber incidents,” Adam says. “Every employee at every organization should understand their role in protecting sensitive information and the potential consequences of negligence,” he adds.

He goes on to highlight two other significant security tips that every company should emphasize:

  1. Implementing Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

Although it takes more time and work, Adam strongly advocates for the adoption of multi-factor authentication as an additional layer of security that every company should take. By requiring users to provide multiple forms of identification, such as a password, fingerprint, or token, MFA significantly reduces the risk of unauthorized access.

Adam notes: “To be honest, there is no cutting corners when it comes to maintaining good cybersecurity. And MFA adds an extra level of protection by verifying the user’s identity through multiple factors. It’s a highly effective way to mitigate the risk of compromised credentials.”

  1. Regularly Update and Patch Systems

Keeping software and systems up to date is a vital aspect of cyber security. Adam recommends that organizations regularly apply security patches and updates provided by software vendors. Outdated software can leave vulnerabilities open for exploitation by cybercriminals.

He stresses, “By staying vigilant and promptly applying security patches, organizations can proactively address known vulnerabilities and minimize the risk of exploitation.”

Where is Cybersecurity Heading?

Regardless of the future of cybersecurity, one thing is for certain: bad actors will always be on the search for new vulnerabilities and proactivity against these actors will always remain a key element to good cybersecurity practices.

“One thing is for certain,” Adam says. “The future of cyber security will always lie in proactive defense measures rather than reactive responses. Organizations need to adopt a mindset of continuous monitoring, threat intelligence, and preemptive threat hunting to stay ahead of the ever-evolving threat landscape.”

McManus adds: “The future of cyber security will require a constant evolution of strategies and technologies. It’s a cat-and-mouse game, where both defenders and attackers continually adapt. The reality is that over the long-term organizations must embrace a mindset of agility and resilience to effectively combat the ever-changing cyber threat landscape.”
