The Frisco RoughRiders, Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, get edged out by the Midland RockHounds 2-1 in the series opener Sunday night. In the top of the ninth inning, Beau Taylor hit a solo home run of RoughRiders reliever Brady Feigl that gave the Oakland Athletics affiliate the win.
Pedro Payano pitched 5.2 innings for the RoughRiders. He allowed five hits and just one run (earned). He struck out a season-high seven batters while walking three. Jaye Chapman relieved Payano, pitching 1.1 innings of perfect baseball. He punched out one, allowing no hits and no runs. Brady Feigl picked up the loss in Sunday’s matchup. He tossed 2.0 innings, striking out two and giving up one run (earned) that sealed the RoughRiders fate.
The RoughRiders offense managed just seven hits off of Midland starter Heath Fillmyer. In the bottom of the sixth, Luke Tendler hit a double to score Michael DeLeon. That run tied the game at 1-1. Frisco had an opportunity to get ahead in the seventh when they loaded the bases against RockHounds reliever Lou Trivino. However, the RoughRiders couldn’t capitalize and they left the runners stranded.
In total, the RoughRiders left eight men on base, hitting just 2-for-10 with runners in scoring position.

Midland will send lefty A.J. Puk (Double-A debut, 4-5, 3.69 ERA in Advanced-A) to the hill. The RoughRiders have right-handed pitcher Collin Wiles (5-3, 3.72 ERA) starting.
