The word major is subjective for everyone but if you are planning on ripping out entire rooms or areas of your home such as kitchens, bathrooms, or really any room, you should leave it in the hands of the professionals in your area.
Depending on the scope of the project and what it is that you want done in your home, you will have a ton of work to be done that is reliant on professional expertise.
You also need the correct permits to do major renovations to you home and you need to ensure that your home construction site is up to safety standards.
There are all types legal and safety requirements that exist for the area that you live in. If you are planning to put an addition onto your home this is extremely important and should not be overlooked.
The professionals know what permits are required for what type of projects. Better to leave it to them than to risk possibly injury to yourself and to others living at your home. You also will avoid the risk of running into fines for not having the proper permissions to start a large-scale home improvement project and other possible legal issues.
