In Path of Exile 2, Currency Orbs are naturally dropped by killing monsters. These Currencies have a variety of functions, and this article will introduce you to the various currencies that may appear in POE 2 and their main uses.
1. Orb Of Transmutation
Orb of Transmutation is mainly used in the initial stages of crafting. They can upgrade Normal Item to Magic Items. Orb of Transmutation is a common Path Of Exile 2 Currency, so don’t be stingy when using them.
You can get Transmutation Shards by disassembling Magic Items at Vendors. 20 Transmutation Shards can be combined into one Transmutation Orb.
2. Orb Of Augmentation
Using Orb of Augmentation can add additional modifiers to Magic Items. They can be used to further upgrade some Path Of Exile 2 Items.
It should be noted that Magic Items can only have a maximum of 2 modifiers.
3. Orb Of Alchemy
Orb of Alchemy can upgrade Normal Rarity Item to Rare Item with 4 modifiers.
Orb of Alchemy are less common than Orb of Transmutation and Orb of Augmentation, so it is recommended that you use them to upgrade good items, such as some suitable Weapons, Boots, Jewelry, and Body Armor.
4. Orb Of Chance
Using Orb of Chances can randomly upgrade Normal Item to Magic Items, Rare Items, or Unique Items, which may greatly improve your character.
In addition, This POE 2 Currency can also upgrade items to Unique Items of the same category in rare cases.
5. Chaos Orb
Using Chaos Orbs can replace one random Modifier in a Rare Item with another. This may greatly improve the item, and it has a chance to replace a bad Modifier in your item with a good one.
If you are not satisfied with modifiers in your item, you can try your luck with it. However, this item should be used with caution during the campaign.
6. Regal Orb
Regal Orbs will be more common and useful in Path of Exile 2. Regal Orbs can upgrade Magic Items to Rare Items with additional modifiers – the maximum number of modifiers that an item can have will increase from 2 to 6.
Regal Shards are obtained by breaking down Rare Items at Vendors. 10 Regal Shards can be crafted into a Regal Orb.
7. Orb Of Annulment
Orbs of Annulment are a premium crafting currency that removes a random Modifier from a rare or Magic Item. This Path Of Exile 2 Currency can be very powerful in certain situations.
8. Exalted Orb
Exalted Orbs can add an additional random Modifier to a Rare Item, and unlike Chaos Orbs, they do not remove another Modifier when adding it.
9. Divine Orb
Divine Orb is a premium currency item that re-randomizes the value of a Modifier within Modifier range of an item. You can use it to improve some modifiers that have a value range, and if your item currently has a Modifier value that is smaller in the range, then using a Divine Orb will most likely improve the item.
Divine Orbs are very rare and cannot be used at will.
10. Vaal Orb
Using a Vaal Orb allows you to perform random modifications on items. However, it should be noted that items that have been used with Vaal Orb will receive a “Corrupted” tag, after which you will not be able to make any further changes to them. Therefore, it is only recommended that you use Vaal Orb at the last step of the crafting process.
Below are some random effects of Vaal Orb.
- Add an Enchantment: Add additional modifiers to your item in the form of enchantments.
- Add a Socket: You can get additional sockets beyond the maximum limit, up to 3 sockets for body armor and two-handed weapons, and 2 for other armor items (boots, gloves, helmets).
- Reroll Up to Half of an Item’s modifiers: You can roll some of the item’s bad modifiers and replace them with better modifiers.
Of course, Vaal Orb also has the potential to permanently turn your item into a “brick”, an item that is forever ruined. So use it with caution.
11. Jeweller’s Orb
Using Jeweller’s Orb can add an additional socket for Gem of your choice. It is divided into the following types.
- Lesser Jeweller’s Orb: You can get it as a quest reward or find it as a natural drop. Using it will add an extra socket to a Skill Gem with 2 sockets.
- Greater Jeweller’s Orb: It can be obtained as a quest reward in the late campaign or at the end of the game. Using it can add an extra socket to a Skill Gem with 3 sockets.
- Perfect Jeweller’s Orb: It can add an extra socket to a Skill Gem with 4 sockets. After use, a Skill Gem with 5 support sockets will allow you the flexibility to perform the way you want and cause more damage.
In addition, Quality-improving currencies may return as Armourer’s Scraps and Blacksmith’s Whetstones, but the return of items such as Cartographer’s Chisels, Gemcutter’s Prisms or Catalysts has not yet been confirmed.
