From Action Hero to Comedy Virtuoso: Lucas Lockwood Reflects on His Journey in Hollywood and His Vision for 2025

Lucas Lockwood, known for his roles in S.W.A.T., Hacks, and The Terminal List, shares insights into his dynamic career spanning action-packed dramas and heartfelt comedies. The Brazilian-born actor discusses the challenges of preparing for diverse roles, the inspiration drawn from industry legends like Jean Smart, and the joy of creating lasting impact through storytelling. With Lockwood Entertainment, he’s stepping into the producer and director’s chair, focusing on comedy TV series set to premiere in 2025. A fitness enthusiast and advocate for giving back, Lockwood uses his platform to connect with fans and champion meaningful causes. Looking ahead, he aspires to Emmy-winning performances while continuing to inspire audiences worldwide.

1. You’ve worked alongside industry heavyweights in projects like Netflix’s S.W.A.T., HBO’s Hacks, and Amazon’s The Terminal List. What have been some of the most memorable moments from these sets, and what have you learned from your co-stars?

Some of my favorite moments from these projects revolve around the stunts. For S.W.A.T., we had this incredible sequence where we blew up an armored truck—which was very intense! And on The Terminal List, we had to go through some basic military training on the beach, which was challenging but unforgettable which truly made me value and respect our soldiers in a whole new way.

That said, one of the other most memorable experiences was having conversations with Jean Smart on the set of Hacks. She has such a wealth of wisdom and experience, and getting to sit next to her between takes was like a masterclass in resilience. Her stories about the challenges she’s faced in the industry were so inspiring, and I left each conversation with a deep sense of peace, hope, and joy. She’s truly one of the industry’s treasures.

2. Your performances span a variety of genres, from action-packed shows like S.W.A.T. to comedic roles in Hacks. How do you prepare for such different roles, and do you have a preference for any particular genre?

My preparation for comedy differs a bit from how I approach drama. In comedy, I focus on creating backstory moments that inform my character’s loose, free-flowing nature. I like to explore fun reversals in how I say specific lines, often adding bold choices to bring out the humor. I also try to highlight the way my character interacts with others—making sure each relationship has its own comedic dynamic.

For drama, I also build a backstory, but it’s more focused on deep, emotionally charged memories that shape the character’s decisions. I work to understand why my character does what he does—never judging him but always justifying his actions and decisions. It’s about creating high-stakes scenarios in the character’s mind that drive a sense of urgency in their choices, whether it’s in a fight or a key moment of emotional conflict.

While I tend to gravitate toward dramatic roles, I’m always excited to take on a comedic character as well. At the end of the day, you can never go wrong with a good laugh.

3. You’ve also appeared in popular titles like Ballers with Dwayne Johnson and American Gangster. How do you approach supporting roles to make a lasting impact on audiences?

When it comes to these roles, my mission is to always to drive the story forward while ensuring the main narrative remains the focus. A supporting character serves one of two purposes: either helping the protagonist reach their goal, or acting as an obstacle that challenges them along the way. By truly understanding the script and what my character’s mission and purpose is, I can create a role that has a lasting impact—whether that means helping the main character succeed or pushing them to become the hero they need to be. When you do that, it resonates with the audience and leaves a lasting impression.

4. Lockwood Entertainment is an exciting new chapter in your career. Can you share more about the projects you have in the works for 2025 and your vision for the production company?

I’m thrilled with how things are progressing at Lockwood Entertainment, and I can’t wait to share the projects we’re working on. Right now, we’re prioritizing comedy TV series, and I’m proud to say we’ve written two series and have already started production on one of them. I had the incredible opportunity to direct the pilot, which was especially exciting because I got to hire so many talented actors, including friends I’ve been working with for over eight years.

As an actor, you experience countless scripts and sets, and now, stepping into the producer and director roles, I’m using those experiences to craft projects and create environments that not only engage audiences but leave them excited and moved. In 2025, we’ll continue to expand our series and may even add a third if scheduling works out.

At Lockwood Entertainment, our mission is to craft exceptional content that ignites inspiration, radiates joy, and showcases the brilliance of dedicated professionals. We’re passionate about the art of storytelling and the magic of visual media to connect, entertain, and enrich lives.

5. Your commercial work with brands like Toyota, AutoNation, and Live Nation has reached diverse audiences. How does this type of work differ from acting in film and television, and what do you enjoy about it?

I feel truly blessed to have been part of some incredible commercials. As for how they differ I’d say commercial work differs from film and television in a few key ways. For one, most commercials require you to look directly into the camera, which is quite the opposite of what’s typical in TV and film acting. It’s truly a different skill to tap into, but I enjoy the challenge.

What I love about commercials is how fun and fast-paced they are. Most shoots wrap up in just a day or two, and they’re filled with energy and excitement as we create moments designed to bring joy and laughter into people’s homes. Every commercial I’ve worked on has been a truly fun and rewarding experience, and I love the opportunity to connect with audiences in this unique way.

6. As a Brazilian-born actor, how has your heritage influenced your perspective as an artist, and do you incorporate your cultural background into your work?

I was born in Brazil but raised in the United States from the young age of 9. While I feel more American than Brazilian in many ways, my parents did an incredible job of keeping my siblings and me connected to Brazilian culture and community. For those who might not know, Brazilian culture places a strong emphasis on hospitality, quality time with friends—even strangers—and an openness that sometimes contrasts with American notions of personal space. In Brazil, it’s common to greet one another with a hug and a kiss on the cheek, sometimes even two. This small yet meaningful gesture reflects a sense of trust and openness—essentially treating people as innocent until proven otherwise.

These cultural values have deeply influenced me as an artist. They’ve taught me to be more open-minded, warm, and connected with those I meet. Vulnerability is another key aspect of Brazilian culture, and I incorporate that into my work by creating characters who are open-hearted, willing to let others in, and grounded in a sense of family and hospitality. These elements allow me to bring authenticity and depth to the roles I play.

7. You’re deeply involved in volunteering, from schools to nursing homes. What motivates you to give back, and how do these experiences shape you both personally and professionally?

Volunteering truly brings me so much joy. There’s an incredible amount of need in the world, and often, money isn’t the solution. Sometimes, what people really need is a listening ear, a helping hand, or even just a meal shared with care. Seeing the joy on someone’s face when I volunteer is more rewarding than anything else—it’s all I could ever ask for.

We’ve all found ourselves in situations where we needed someone’s help, and that feeling when someone steps in to save the day is like the excitement of opening gifts on Christmas morning. That’s the joy I love to share with others.

These experiences deeply shape me as an artist. They allow me to infuse my characters with humanity, grounding them in genuine, relatable emotions. In fact, some of the stories people share with me while volunteering often inspire background stories for my characters, adding a unique depth and flavor to my performances.

8. Fitness plays a big role in your life with your passion for CrossFit. How does staying physically active help you in your acting career, especially in physically demanding roles?

I truly believe that health is life, which is why I prioritize staying as healthy and strong as possible. Muscle density often correlates with longevity of life, so I make it a point to hit the gym 3 to 5 times a week mixing muscle training and High Interval training. This commitment plays a significant role in my acting career, especially since many of the characters I portray are action-heavy and involve stunts. Staying physically fit is essential for performing at my best in these roles.

Additionally, the long hours on set—sometimes lasting up to 12 hours—require stamina and endurance. So by maintaining this active, healthy lifestyle, I’m able to endure these long, physically demanding days without needing excessive recovery time, allowing me to stay focused and perform at my highest level.

9. With a verified Instagram following of 95K, how do you use your platform to connect with fans and share your journey in the entertainment industry?

I truly enjoy connecting with my fans on Instagram. It’s a joy to share fun stories, reels, trending content, behind-the-scenes shots, and a genuine look into the realities of life in the entertainment industry. I’ve found that my audience appreciates seeing my work ethic, the perseverance it takes, and dedication to the craft which ultimately leads to obtaining the fruit. I also share lots of footage from red carpet premiers, VIP events and launches, and by sharing these aspects of my journey, I give them a chance to see things from my perspective and allow them to live vicariously through me. This not only connects them on a personal level but also helps them explore whether this career path is something they might want to pursue themselves.

10. Looking ahead, what are your ultimate goals as an actor and producer, and what can fans look forward to from you in the coming year?

Looking ahead, I’m incredibly excited to see the projects I’m working on come to life and make their way onto TV sets around the world. I’m also looking forward to portraying new characters that will challenge me and push me to use all the skills I’ve spent years refining.

I’m also excited to again be in big blockbuster films alongside A-list actors, learning from them and using our shared stories to impact lives. I’m excited to one day be an Emmy-winning actor, and I cannot wait to share that joy and achievement with my fans and the world.
