Ex Playboy model, and namely ‘non heterosexual’ (and proud) Jasmin Shojai has been with us for the many years, displaying her talent, showcases of material, and in most recent years, she has shook the theatre and screen industry as an actress and occasional director.
A talented and inspirational artist who’s taking the art world by storm. Not only is she studying arts and liberal arts, but she’s also gracing the stage in notable plays in professional theatres. With her captivating performances, she’s transfixed audiences and earned critical acclaim for her work.
In attributing to society and cultural representation and in lead up to Purple Day, (a LGBTQ event and mental health awareness day for youth), she’s also using her platform to openly talk about her journey in ‘coming out’ as a bisexual/queer woman.
It takes a lot of bravery to publicly share such a personal aspect of one’s life, but Shojai is doing just that. Through sharing her story, she’s helping others to feel ‘seen’, heard and validated in their own experiences. She’s proving that being true to one’s self is a beautiful thing, and it’s possible to pursue your career and educational aspirations in an open way and be proud of who you are.
Jasmin most recently performed in a diverse number of small roles in Michael Gow’s AWAY by TheatreWorks, Melbourne (interning through COLLARTS).
