Dracula is one of the most storied characters in the history of movies, but do we really know the whole story. Perhaps audiences over the years have not been made privy everything that there is to know about the world’s most famous son of darkness.

Perhaps Dracula Untold will bring more of Prince Vlad’s origin to light…so to speak.

Gary Shore is making a rather ambitious directing debut in this effects driven telling of Dracula’s origin. Shore managed to catch the eye of execs at Working Title Films with a faux movie trailer called The Cup of Tears.

Luke Evans is cast in the lead role and also starring are: Sarah Gadon, Dominic Cooper, Charles Dance, Art Parkinson, Diarmaid Murtagh and Paul Kaye.

Vlad Tepes (Evans) and his family rule over a small Romanian kingdom, which at the time is experiencing a period of peaceful existence. That peace is ultimately threatened when Mehmed II (Cooper), a rival king, sets out to build an army. Mehmed demands that each family’s first-born son join his army, and Vlad’s son Ingeras (Parkinson) is not exempt.

To protect his family and his kingdom, Vlad makes a dark bargain with a powerful sorcerer. As a result he is endowed with unnatural strength and speed, but is also bedeviled with a ravenous thirst for human blood.

Will Dracula Untold take a bite out of this weekend’s box office, or will it just end up sucking? Your chance to find out will arrive, when it opens in theaters October 10th.
