Robert Downey Jr. is gracing the big screen again with his presence yet again in his new movie, The Judge.
This time he’ll be doing it without his Iron Man armor or his Avengers sidekicks. Even though this will be a return trip the truly dramatic for him, I’m sure viewers can still expect some of that signature wit and humor they’ve become accustomed to.
David Dobkin was tapped to direct this story of an estranged father and son reunited under dire circumstances. His body of work has so far included more comedic fare, with movies like Shanghai Knights, Wedding Crashers, and The Change Up.
Downey Jr. and Robert Duvall head up a talent heavy cast that includes; Vera Farmiga, Billy Bob Thornton, Vincent D’Onofrio, Jeremy Strong, Dax Shepard, Ken Howard, and Leighton Meester.
Hank Palmer (Downey Jr.) is a successful, big-city attorney who returns to his childhood hometown to attend his mother’s funeral. It’s only then that he discovers that his father, Judge Joseph Palmer (Duvall), is suspected in the murder of a former defendant in a case that he presided over. Hank takes on his father’s case in order to uncover the truth of the matter.
Perhaps along the way he will also be able to heal old wounds and find a way to reconnect with his estranged family.
If you want to sit in on the jury to find out the truth, The Judge will be taking the stand in theaters on Friday October 10th. Until then you’ll have to sit in judgment amongst yourselves.
