It’s not unlike Kevin Garnett to get inside the head of his opponents. The newest T-wolve has made a career out of trash-talking and mind games that send some players to the breaking point.
However, Austin Rivers is not going to be one of those players.
During the fourth quarter of the Los Angeles Clippers 110-105 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves, Austin Rivers appeared to send a message to Garnett by bumping into him during a timeout.
The situation escalated further when Garnett elbowed Rivers and pointed at him, which after a heated verbal exchange, led to the two receiving double technical fouls.
When Austin Rivers was asked about his bump into Garnett, he didn’t seem too apologetic.
“I was walking to the bench and he was in my way”
It’s an interesting situation with Garnett and Rivers. It’s a known fact that Garnett and Doc Rivers, who serves as Clippers coach and Austin’s father, have immense respect for each other, going back to their days in Boston.
When asked about the incident Doc Rivers responded with the following.
“I thought Austin should have punched him, personally.”
Of course, Doc said this with a smile on his face. He knows better than most the type of player Garnett is. Maybe he should teach Austin that lesson, because as always, Father Knows Best.
