While there are a lot of interesting matches, there are some that just don’t have the same appeal for various reasons. One of those happens to be that these two teams are going in opposite directions in many areas. The 7-2 AFC East division leader New England Patriots are heading out West to play the 1-8 San Francisco 49ers.

Let us first look at the New England Patriots. They are entering this game with a record of 7-2 and currently hold the top seed in the AFC. They are, however, entering this game coming off a surprising loss last week at the hands of the Seahawks. However, before that loss, the Patriots were on a four-game winning streak. It was announced this week that the Patriots would be with Rob Gronkowski who is recovering from a punctured lung. I don’t suspect that to be a problem for Tom Brady and company. I know there is the old saying of, “Anything can happen on any giving Sunday,” unfortunately I don’t see that happening this Sunday as the 49ers are not playing well at all.

On the other side, you have the San Francisco 49ers. They are entering this game with a record of 1-8 and currently hold the worst record in the NFC and the second-worst record in the NFL ( Cleveland Browns have a worst record). Their only win came in the season opener against the Los Angeles Rams and had lost every week since then. They also have had a lot of off the field issues regarding Colin Kaepernick. Overall, the 2016 season has been bad for the 49ers, and it seems that they are playing more for the draft and the off-season.
