This Sunday will see two teams that as of right now are on the outside looking into for the playoffs. The Los Angeles Rams will be making the trip from sunny California to a cold New Jersey area as they play the New York Jets.

Unfortunately, it’s been a bad year for both teams as it seems more and more likely that neither of these teams will be making the playoffs.

Let us look at the Los Angeles Rams. They are coming into this game with a record of 3-5 and currently stand 2 ½ games behind the Seahawks in the NFC West and are only 1 ½ games behind the Wild Card leaders, the New York Giants. After starting the season off with an impressive record of 3-1, the Rams have spiraled in the wrong direction as they have lost their last four games.

These losses come from the Buffalo Bills, Detroit Lions, New York Giants in London, and the Carolina Panthers.

Unfortunately, the Rams are in a tough spot going into this game as if they do happen to defeat the New York Jets, it probably won’t help them in regards to getting back into the playoff hunt. But if you are Jeff Fisher and company, you want to win this game as your schedule only becomes more difficult as the season goes on. Here are just some of the opponents who the Rams face after they play the Jets and they are the Dolphins, Saints, Patriots, Falcons, Seahawks, and the Cardinals to name a few.

While the Rams probably won’t make the playoffs, you don’t want to be on a long losing streak. One thing I could see the Rams do is try to use the running game a lot and get Kenny Britt possible more receptions.

On the other hand, let us look at the team that the Rams will be playing. You have a 3-6 New York Jets team coming into this game that has won two of the last three games this season. It also has not been a great year for the New York Jets as they are looking at probably a top ten pick in next years draft. This season has been a real up and down type of season as they Jets have put their fans through a lot of pain.

I don’t suspect that even if the Jets can win this game that it will help them in any way or shape. Like I mentioned with the Rams, the Jets upcoming games are also not easy in the least bit. After the Rams, the Jets have tough opponents coming up. Between now and the end of the season, they get the Patriots twice, one more game against the Bills and Dolphins, and play the Colts to name a few. I should also mention how the Jets are coming into this game on the cusp of losing to their AFC East rivals, the Miami Dolphins last week.
