The New York Knicks should be excited to see what the 2016-17 season has in store for them. The Knicks will face the Houston Rockets in the Knicks first game but the 2nd for Houston.
The Knicks will have a different look to them when they take the floor tonight. Gone are the services of Jose Calderon, Robin Lopez and Arron Afflalo Derek Fisher and Kurt Rambis. The Knicks will now enter the Carmelo Anthony, Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah and Kristaps Porzingis era. For a team in a major market to only win 32 games last season was unacceptable and moves had to be made. Tuesday night we finally get to see if Phil Jackson has the magic touch.

The Rockets will be fresh off the preseason opening win against the Shanghai Sharks Sunday as James Harden led the Rockets with 16 points in a 131-94 victory. If the Rockets can continue to get production from their bench as they did Sunday from Nene (12 points), Brewer (10 points and Wiltjer (10 points) this could be a promising season.
The question with the Knicks is not personnel wise it’s the system. With new coach Jeff Hornacek coming over it was expected that he will run his uptempo offense, but Jackson is hell-bent on putting pieces of the Triangle in. If Rose can penetrate at least 70% of the time it will be an upgrade from what they had last season. No matter the new faces, the Knicks still will only go as far the Anthony and K.P. take them.
The game will be high scoring as there may not be too many players that can guard Harden but the Knicks will have the advantage in the post.
