We are three hours away from the 4 pm deadline, and the floodgates have opened. It seems that there is one name that is being linked to many teams. But for some reason, he is real picky on who he goes to. The player that is being linked to many teams is Brewers catcher Jonathan Lucroy.
If you have read my other articles, you would know I have done a lot of coverage over where Jonathan Lucroy will end up going. Originally, he was set and ready to go to Cleveland, but he vetoed it at the last minute. Then last night, reports were coming out that the Mets had backed out and that Texas was pushing for him. Now it seems that the Mets are interested in Lucroy coming to Queens. I have said before Lucroy coming to the Mets would continue to help an offensive that is currently hitting .209 with runners in scorer position.
It would be interesting to see who the New York Mets would be willing to get the part with. Earlier reports were saying that Travis d’Arnud would end up being part of the deal. What ended up breaking up talks last time was that the New York Mets were possibly going to add Don Smith, however, according to reports the Brewers were asking for Dilson Herrera. The New York Mets were against including him in the deal because he is probably going to be the second baseman either in September or next year. Due to a number of injuries, the New York Mets have faced, they need someone like a Lucroy to help add strength to their offense.
